Parents or teachers can add their own spelling list for children to work on, adding audio, choosing to secure their lists under "lock configuration" with a password and enabling kids to practice. Within the app, the first word is spoken and can be repeated by hitting the arrow at the bottom. Kids practice spelling it by using the keyboard on the right. The app functions like a traditional game of hangman; when a letter is missed, a piece of the picture appears, and if the entire word is missed, the word is revealed. The customizable nature of the app, allowing users to add their own words and lists, makes it suitable for a wider range of students. The voice recognition feature works effectively, which can be a critical aspect. While a more robust hint system in future updates would be beneficial, overall, this is a commendable app that I would recommend. Notably, there are no links, ads, or in-app purchases.' 4 stars

Spelling Hangman provides an entertaining method to prepare for weekly school spelling tests.

To customize your tests, input and record each spelling and engage in a hangman-style game with 'sneaky peeks' to facilitate learning.

Progressively enter each letter of the word in sequence but be cautious – errors bring hangman closer. Stuck? Press and hold the 'Sneaky Peek' button to peek at the word. Each 'Sneaky Peek' reveals more of hangman.

Upon test completion, review your scores; high scores are saved for you to challenge next time.

Spelling Hangman can double as any language vocabulary tester as long as you have its respective keyboard.

Tests are shareable across devices using Airdrop, iMessage or email.
